Expedition 16 Crew Members, 5 Astronaut & 1 Spaceflight Participant

By Luk4all Editor

Posted 2nd October 2007

There is an entry in Nasa web page regarding expedition 16, on October 10th, there are going to be 6 crew members, 5 astronaut and 1 space flight participant. You can read it here. Thanks to Ronny Liu for pointing it out.

Hmmm… I thought I read in newspapers sometime over the weekend that space flight participant has already graduated from his training and is now a full fledge astronaut? Can somebody from the Ministry of Science and Technology please write or sent an email to Nasa to ratify the typo!!

Guess we are now coming to our grand finale, Who want to be an Astronaut?

Have a safe trip guys!!

Does the Malaysian government really needs to spend such a huge sum of the taxpayers money just only to send one man on Russia's shuttle and call this man the Malaysian astronout ?
Does all educated MALAYSIANS agreed to such an act? The government can instead use this Monies to build more hospitals for the benefits of thousands of poor Malaysians !!!

My take is that, this will create the 'Malaysia Boleh" spirit in all Malaysian. It's more to the self esteem thingy. Others input?

I fully support Aru's suggestion that the Malaysian goverment should use that huge sum of monies in improving the health of the countrymen instead of just sending one GUY only to just be a passenger on the Russian shuttle when there are millions of poor Malaysians struggling with their lives daily due to poverties.

Hoping our respectable prime minister will look into this.We need to have a strong and healthy population in order to achieve the WAWASAN 2020 .

Hey guys, there is nothing to be proud of. The 2 fellow who are going to flying off from Russia are NOT the astrounaut as what we described. The definition of astrounaut is someone who is carrying out some scientific research and studies at the universe. The 2 jokers are the passengers, so, MY MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS, spending more than 100 millions ringgit to send 2 "passengers" to the universe is the right thing to do ? Many of us are fool by these jokers indeed !!

So, during Mahathir regime, we condemn corruptions, and hope the Mr nice guy Pak Lah is "clean". They are just bunch of crooks who sucks our citizens blood and tears hard earned money.

So, don't get deceived by this jokers !

Does Malaysia Boleh ?? We have bold vision, to develop Malaysia as an Aerospace of excellency, having said that, we cannot even build a simple and reliable car (Proton) after 2 decades, are we ready for aerospace industry ? I think we are just dreaming, and continue to dream, and spend our money to fullfill someone pride !! Malaysia ministers BOLEH !!

Why so many 'black heart' person in our country like aru and callum above? Why dont both of you think how many budget of our government spending for what so called healthy. How many hospital that both of you need for our country. Is it still not enough. Againts poverty, don't you open your eyes to see how many opportunity that we have in this country to get a good living. Just we need to work hard to get it or you just want to wait till our government to give a bulk of money to poor people without they need to do anything? C'mon friend please try not just always look all at negative. Be positive and I believe you will be happy. Go ahead Angkasawan. Million of Malaysian people are behind you.

The Russian has earn a great deal of money just allowing one Malaysian PASSENGER on board their shuttle instead of letting her own citizen on board .
Why the Malaysian authority is so childish to spend so a huge amount of money on this trip instead of using that sum of money in the development internally for the benefits of the poor ra'ayat ?

Billionaire Dr Charles Simonyi is on the moon. He is not the astronaut, he is just the passenger. He pays millions of dollar for the space journey.

Mr. Metal i think you just missed the point. the money that is spent to sent a person to the space can rather be used for many other reasons.

The problem with the whole angkasawan program is driven of trying to be proud that we have a man in space, rather than then a need to have a person in space, whether its for scientific experiment, etc. Remember we decided to have a person in space, then only we looked for experiment for him to do (forget about the teh tarik suggestion).

Anyway the russian also thinks that he is merely a space fligh participant. http://www.federalspace.ru/Start1Show.asp?STARTID=631

read this from Jeff Ooi
'Assuming that it takes RM500,000 for a 4-year course to train a medical doctor in Russia, then, what glorified one Malaysian would have given us 180 Russian-trained medical doctors who could do more good to the country. The multiplier effect to our talent banks and human capital.'
every year we have to turn down hundred of applicant to study medicine, either in the local uni or scholarship.

Mr Metal, in life, there is a choice, WANTS OR NEEDS. So, which one come first ?
