I'm
sure most Malaysians are shocked when sex DVD depicted
one of our ministers hit the newsstand a week ago.
Undeniably it is going to be a top discussion in coffee
shops for months. Even though, personally I do not
condone this act (both the victim and the perpetrator)
but if we analyze it in details, this man didn't fail
fulfilling his responsibility as the Health Minister.
What he did is at his own freedom and personal space,
which everyone has the right to do so. He took up the
challenge of becoming a Health Minister (this is no easy
feat) and in my opinion he did it pretty well. This is
what matters most.
Somehow, I believe most of us do have to respect him in
taking the courage to come out in public, admit it and
later quit his post after a strong external pressure. I
bet if this happens to the other half of our beloved
cabinet ministers, they will just deny it. continue
denying it. keep denying it, wait for some time to cool
off then they got away scot-free (I can quote numerous
of these events, but I'm not going into that). He can
choose this option as well, but instead he decided to
take the slap on the face. This is a true leadership.
If
we look 8000 miles away to USA, former US President Bill
Clinton is still able to win the second presidential
term after his sex scandal while becoming the first US
President to be impeached in court. Ironically, the
Americans are able to look beyond the scandal, because
during his 1st term it was the best
economical years for US since WWII.
In
short, I think Malaysians are still very much in the
state of immaturity. I believe we'd lost a great leader;
there are so many other ministers that should have
quitted (nicer word to put it, retired) but are still
much idling in our political scene.
"Seek
responsibility and take responsibility for your actions
- Search for ways to guide your organization to new
heights. And when things go wrong, they always do sooner
or later -- do not blame others. Analyze the situation,
take corrective action, and move on to the next
challenge" - Definition of leadership.
Note: This article is not meant to condone infidelity or
any acts that breaks the law.

Totally disagree with what you have written below, women is also a type of corruption…. Remember there is saying, corruption is more additive than sex.

It is only a corruption if it affect the judgement of a person.

yeah... if the person cannot control himselfl, do you think he is not prone to corruption then?

That is subjective, we should be looking at the overall picture. I quoted the former US president Bill Clinton as a good example. In general, he did a good job in bringing back the US economy from deficit in his 1st term, something that has not been done since his pre-decessors.
Did he s**** up during his tenure on the scandal? Yes he did, he got impeached in US court, and I believe the shame, guilt on/from his family and blah blah blah.
Did Americans do the right thing in voting him to white house on 2nd term? Yes, i believe they do, after his track record.
If what the ex-health minister claimed the improvements he had done to the health ministry is true, then i say he should stay in office. Well, unless he is proven quilty of any "other" corruptions :)

Well, i say lets put all our minister on anti-corruption investigation. If they come out clean, then they are clean. Otherwise, get them out of our cabinets.
