How Does Proton Persona Feels?

As a patriotic Malaysian it really hurts me bad but I have to say it, ‘It feels like CHEAP plastic!!!’
I have to admit, I am one of those could not wait Malaysian, could not wait to touch and feel the latest offerings from Proton. Me and my buddies were at the Proton show room at 12pm on August 15th, waiting for the unveiling of Proton Persona. When finally the veil was removed from the bride, we have to admit it was quite a beauty. We then move on to apply our well known Malaysian knowledge of automotive engineering of vehicle testing, that is opening and closing the door. And unfortunately for me reveals everything about the car. The back door car handle feels like a cheap plastic. The door was quite light, again it feels like cheap plastic, opens like cheap plastic, close like a cheap plastic and slam like with the thud that sound like a cheap plastic.

Persona does have a nice exterior look though.
The front door feels a little better, it was a little bit heavier and slams with a higher quality thud. The next automotive engineering vehicle testing knowledge of mine tells me to get into the driver seat of the car. Overall the front panel, steering wheels, air conditioner knobs, arm rest all looks very nicely design, until you touch them. Again they feel like cheap plastic. The arm rest feels like cheap plastic, the panels and steering feels like cheap plastic.
I did not get a chance to drive the car, but from my amazing knowledge of automotive engineering knowledge of touching I give the car, a BIG thumbs down.
But then again….. where can you get a car that is price at 55K and gives you 2 airbag, ABS and EDB. Anyway as I told my friends…. Aiya Proton mar… what do you expect!!
Comments:
Well, at least Proton has made a progress since Wira or Waja model. It is an improvement, but not a big impact to the overall ailing Proton sales. Anyway, keep up the good work.

This car looks better than the weird look Gen2. Well, I am still very doubtful Proton has fixed the stupid mistakes such as power window problem ! Let's see how it goes....

Isn't Persona an exact look of Gen.2? From front headlight to rear headlight..exact match.. except for very minor cosmetic touchup. The only difference is they have "pulled" the rear of a Gen.2 longer to form Persona... If that's how Proton designed new car, then better not design at all... :(
I would love to support Proton as I am a patriotic Malaysian but with the current offer from them... no way I am going to waste my hard earn money with a poor design car..and btw, 45k-55k is NOT cheap at all! Unless Proton change their management and thoughts otherwise they will eventually succumb to "death" sooner or later... hope to see something better in the future...
And Happy Merdeka 50th Anniversary! :)

i am no fan of proton, but currently driving a wira, serious considering buying the persona, buying a more expensive car would just increased my liability. wish me luck

Well, i guess this time Proton wasn't that bad anymore. I too drove a 7 years old Wira. Seriously considering of getting a new car. Most probably will be Proton made. It's either Persona or Iswara (well, at

In my opinion, the rear pull out design matches the entire car outlook. This is the most crucial point to make it more of a Sedan than the sporty look of Gen2.
I am not the fan of Proton though I have been driven Proton for 7 years with my Wira. And now, I have switched to Toyota Altis now...I am still intended to get one Persona for my wife....

first impression > f**k looks like a re-version of Gen.2 second impression > maybe they have too many Gen.2 spare parts need to clear stock so js re-version it. third impression > proton management continues to hold to the principle that malaysians are stupid and patriotic enuff to buy this duh! product...again... fourth impression > if i buy this car will i be able to differentiate whether i am paying money for a Gen.2 or a new model???? fifth impression > aiya...proton mar..what do you expect.... innovation merrr.....
