Yes
you got it right. The new Toyota Vios 2007
has been launched, but NOT in Malaysia but in
our neighboring country. Arrgghhh…… why can’t we
ever get it here first.
Anyway historically we will usually see it on
our shore in a couple months time. So if you are
planning to get a new car in Honda City or
Toyota Vios range,
you might want to check out the photos below, or
wait a couple of months. It is really a beauty
from the photos, the shape and outlooks has the
Camry feels.

If its not for the Vios tag, I would have assume
it to be Camry.

Cool front + side view

Stylish and
aerodynamically designed.

The interior looks nicer and modern this time.

Unfortunately the cheap looking sunscreen still
looks the same, hopefully it feels better this
time around.
You can check out the broucher in Thai, from
here. If you can wait for a few more months
to get your new car, we suggest that you wait
and have a look at the baby before making your
decision.
Comments:
This model really rocks! The car front sure looks like Camry, it got the slick and stylish look. Can't wait to lay my hands on this baby. Hope the price wouldn't be too expensive. Should be affordable at RM80K range.

saw the Thai link, looks like it cost about ~rm50K there. If it is that price in malaysia, it will totally wipe our proton, perodua and kia.

Cheapo, you are really cheap. This is an unrealistic fat hope. Our government will tax on VIOS rocket high. Eventually, we will be buying cheap car at an expensive price.
Malaysia implementing closed door policy, in fact, if you have chance to go out of Malaysia, u will see so many nice cars on the road in our neighbours.
Take for example, Nissan TIIDA. This is a very nice looking car and with very affordable price. It is not loose out to VIOS, in fact its interior design is very spacious and roomy. It is a very good car to consider. However, due to the closed door policy, you can only see but cannot own them. Just like seeing a beautiful girls but can married them.
I am just hoping Proton to wind up their business so that we can see more new models flocking into Malaysia car market.
It is enough for all Malaysians who suffered inferior quality of Proton cars for 2 decades.

Trust me, Proton is here to stay...and for a very long time. However, at the end of the day, i think the truth shall prevail. Look at Proton now, it used to market king, but it has been overtaken by Perodua, that has cheaper and better quality products.
We as the customer has a choice too, if we're not satisfied with Proton product, just dont buy it. That is the least of the things that we as a customer can do, till they really buckled up and start listening to us. Who knows, the government might just shelf it up one day.

Golumm......... yes its a wish. Anyway fat hope in hoping for more types of model. I heard ford has too many cars stuck unsold in m'sia, and that prevent ford from bringing more models here. and rumours is that you can get as much as 20K discount from ford model. So that is quite pesissmistic.....

Does Proton listens to customer feedback ?? We have been talking about this subject since day when proton started. More than 90% of the car out from the factory are having flaws "sini sakit, sana sakit". I have never heard any of the proton car owners said they are getting a trouble free car, although many of those are nitty gritty things.
So, why Perodua recently has been leading Proton in sales ? Do u know that Proton has Millions of new cars is currently parking outside under the hot sun, awaiting for potential buyers ? How long does the government continue to fund this ill-company ? So, what is the real benefit of acquiring Lotus company ? In fact, the so-called local made proton with Lotus technology is only the sales gimmic, nothing but the true. Another fiasco is the Italian Agusta deal, finally bailed out at $1.
20 years ago, when Dr Mahathir vision to starts car industry is correct, but the protectionism is the key factor that kills the proton. Just like a spoiled child. The parents only feedback with money but not educating them the right way of spending money.
After so many rounds of negotiation deal with overseas car companies, proton will still the same proton, no other companies is willing to partnership with them due to the stupid protectionism.
Do we know why Thailand is the Asia Detroit (Detroit is the largest car manufacturing center in US) ? When Toyota negotiated with government, due to protectionism, it was rejected. Toyota then look for our neighbours, the Thai government has a good vision and approved the investment. All VIOS, CAMRY are made in Thailand. On the other hand, the INNOVA, AVANZA are all made in Indonesia. As u can see, we have loss such a big opportunity to our neighbours due to our government decision. "We loss the cow because we keep the chicken". The chicken only can feed 3 people, whereas a cow can feed 50 people. This is the simple analogy, enough to explain the basic economy calculations.
Another story to tell, India largest software development company, INFOSYS, apply license to setup a software hub in Malaysia, but Malaysia government took more than 1 year to consider the proposal, and finally INFOSYS invested in other countries. We had lost so many golden opportunities, and yet our government never learnt from the experience. Malaysia is getting more poverty, the social problems, car robberies are very rampant everywhere, the helpless police could not do anything due to the number of police versus the population ratio is too low. And too many local graduates are jobless now due to the spiral effect.
The government should starts pondering again, and look for long terms solution to resolve this ill land. Malaysia, no doubt is a beautiful country, I am looking forward for a change, a drastic change that can revive the economy and get in control of the social problems. I am sure many Malaysians who read this would agreed what I said.
My old favourite Proton"WIRA" car stands for "Why I Repair Again" ???? Callum....KL

Cheapo,
The competition is fears, it is a fact. Ford all this while did not sell well in Malaysia. So, it has no surprise. In fact, they have one model called MONDEO, a very nice looking car but never seen in Malaysia. Malaysia car market can only open up if Proton wind up their business and Mahathir can peacefully retired. If u happens to go abroad, and see what types of cars on the road, we, Malaysian, are really poor citizen. Less choices and pay more money to own a car.
In Hong Kong, the new Camry cost RM80K. In US, a Camry cost around RM70-80K only. What does this tells us ?

allooo broo..
just received info & confirmation from UMW today. this car will coming in july 07. dont be surprise the price tag less than 70k. crazy beb. toyota ask me to sell my car before july or else regret beb...
3/24/2007 9:18:29 PM | sarip
I think the only party that will regret is Proton. 20 years head-start to make its mark locally has gone wasted. Now it has to go heads on with the "giants" out there. Well, if what you said is true at RM70K price tag, then it would greatly impact Proton products, especially Gen2 and Waja that selling within the RM50K - RM60K.

Abang Sarip, I bought my Altis at RM121K 2 years ago, and now with this new Camry, I believe the price won;t be too far off. I am equally as bang ball as you....

STATISTICS :
China's middle class covered 19 percent of the total population in 2003, up 1 percentage points every year, according to a report released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
India middle-income group is about 25% of the total population base. Of this segment about 4% are extremely rich and about 10% have just graduated into the middle class and are feeling their way through the material world. In addition about 1% of the poor in the country are graduating into this middle-income group every year for the last ten years. This trend not only will continue but also will get accelerated.
All these numbers were retrieved from internet. If we would assume all these figures are correct, then our government is just like the "frog live inside the well".
In Summary of calculations :
China : 20% of 1.3 Billion populations, or 260Millions middle class people.
India : 25% of 1 Billion populations, or 250 Millions middle class populations.
Can we imagine how enormous of the economy superpower of these 2 giant countries ?? The whole malaysia population was merely 25 millions, only equivalent to the whole population of Shanghai city !!!
Malaysia government is still trying shelf off chinese and Tamil schools. Can't they understand the importance of Chinese and Tamil languages ?
The protectionism, the racial discriminations, the religion conflicts and etc are still commonly seen in Malaysia. If u happens to travel around the world, you realized that the whole world knows about Malaysia racial discrimination problems, depriving chinese and Indians. Instead, the government is trying ways to spurs the economy by launching mega projects. The socalled Malaysia economy growth does not ties in to the world economy. Which means we are at close door policy, and shut off the economy ties with the outside world. Do u think can we survive with such mode ?
Every developing countries including China and India, (and even Vietnam is going to becoming the next superstars) are promoting open door policy. Also, take a look at our neighbours like Indonesia, Thailand have made tremendous growth of their econmy over recent years. They are the silent killers to us !! Our government is still dreaming about the protectionism. We are just a small country, merely about the population as Shanghai city only. We did not have the economical scales to talk about protectionism !!!
I am saying enough, and I hope the government is taking this steep measures and drastic change in the open door policy so that we are re-align to the globalization.

went to toyota showroom, the sales man was telling it will priced around 80K to 90K with 5 different models. I don't really believe him, think he is trying to get me to buy the current models that is around 70K.
3/28/2007 8:29:44 AM | properties
Actually, if the old version pric dropped to RM70K, I would consider to buy one for my family. However, I am not sure what is the differences between old and new ? Seems that new launches are more expensive, back to square few years ago before the price cut. In my opinion, I like the current old model fashion than this new ones. On contrary, the new Camry looks gorgeous ! It is one of the best Camry model that I have seen so far.

6/21/2007 5:05:18 PM | seiw-lay
The price will be very much the same as the current VIOS model. The government has not make any announcement of car price reduction, so , try not to have too many fat hopes...

I don't like it, it looks much like the old VW beetle, it's not well proportioned enough to look like a sporty sedan, the old one looks more sporty
